Apple’s new retail store in Japan is reportedly going to open next year. The store is said to open in Tokyo’s Omotesando district. According to reports, this outlet will be opened for customers in March.
Japan has seven Apple Retail Stores as of now. The first one in Tokyo was opened back in 2005 in Ginza. So after nine years the company is now reportedly gearing up to open a new retail store in the city. The land is said to cost some 16 billion yen or $164 million. Once the store is completed and has Apple as a tenant, the property’s value is likely to jump to 25 billion yen according to Seth Sulkin of Pacifica Capital KK in Tokyo.
This new retail store is likely to be spread across three floors. The first floor will be above ground while the other two floors will be underground, which means that the total area will be around 20,000 square feet. Apple’s Japanese website is already displaying job listings for the store, and its only a matter of time before the company’s traditional black canopies go out to cover its under-construction store from prying eyes.
The report of a new retail store in Japan comes at a time when the company is rumored to be making a major push in the country. It is said to be working on a deal with Japan’s largest carrier, NTT DoCoMo, to bring both of its new iPhones to the country next month.
