Samsung pushing Android 4.4 KitKat update to Galaxy Note 2

The update is rolling out to the international variant of Samsung’s second-generation phablet flagship.

Samsung has begun rolling out the Android 4.4 KitKat update to the Galaxy Note 2,*the company’s*2012 phablet that made the Galaxy Note series a mainstream hit.

According to Samsung fan site SamMobile, the update is currently available in France via Samsung’s desktop software Kies, but should be rolling out over the air very soon. The update should*bring all the goodies one would*expect from the latest iteration of the Google platform, including speedier performance, transparent status bar with white icons, wireless printing support, advanced location control, closed captions, and general stability improvements.

The update also adds Samsung’s KNOX and Wallet apps to the device, but*doesn’t seem to include the upgraded UI and features found on newer*Galaxy phones. As usual, it will be a while before the update arrives on every handset in every region owing to the phased nature of these rollouts, though a manual check in the Settings » About phone » Software update menu can speed up the process in some cases.
