Apple highlights size, cameras in new Fallon/Timberlake-voiced ads

The iPhone 6 Plus is “huge”, and the cameras on Apple’s two new handhelds go “shapow” when snapping a photo.

If you didn’t watch Apple’s recent keynote event introducing the world to the biggest iPhones yet very closely, or gave up on the stream when it started cracking, you may not be aware Cupertino drafted Jimmy Fallon and Justin Timberlake to hype up the 6 and 6 Plus.

Only the uber-famous late-night talk show host and Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter respectively merely lent their voices to the first pair of iPhone 6/6 Plus commercials, which might seem like a miserably wasted opportunity.

But if you think about it, this is yet another way for Apple to differentiate its advertising efforts from the often tasteless stunts Samsung generally pulls. Not to mention it’s refreshing to see hear JT and JF go the extra mile in conveying charisma and silliness instead of just showing up on a set and smile charmingly.

Besides, the very fact many may not realize right away it’s those two huge stars that are fooling around with fake camera clicking noises gives the marketing campaign an air of uniqueness, where only a select few viewers are in on the joke.

Speaking of huge celebrities and huge things in general, one of the two fresh ads (embedded above) revolves around size, which is a little uncharacteristic of Apple. But we’re guessing “dazzling displays of common sense” are no longer in style, thanks primarily to Samsung and other Android device manufacturers that experimented with phablets when nobody believed in them.

The least you can do is say thanks, Apple. Surely that’s never going to happen though, so let’s take a moment to also check out the silliest iPhone 6 and 6 Plus commercial yet, starring Fallon and Timberlake in extreme monkey business mode. Shapow! Click-click! Tick-tick-ting!
