Samsung Galaxy Note 3 shown running early Android 5.0 Lollipop firmware

The Galaxy Note 3 is the third Samsung device seen running an early build of Android Lollipop.

We’ve already seen videos of the Galaxy S4 and Galaxy S5 running on an unreleased version of Android 5.0, and now the folks over at SamMobile*are offering a look at the latest version of Android running on a Galaxy Note 3. As expected, the Note 3’s user interface on Lollipop is quite similar to the one seen on the S4 and S5, with a mash-up of Samsung’s TouchWiz and Google’s Material Design guidelines visible everywhere.

The firmware running on the Note 3 has a couple of differences from what we’ve seen before. The first is a new system-wide font that sadly still doesn’t look anywhere as cool as the Roboto font in stock Android, and new icons for the options in the settings menu. Performance seems to have improved, at least when it comes to opening basic apps, and the animations are said to be fast and fluid.

Like the Galaxy S4 and S5, there’s no concrete information on when Samsung plans to start rolling out the Lollipop update, and there’s also no word on when the update is hitting the Galaxy Note 4, the latest flagship from the Korean manufacturer. A release early next year is possible for the Galaxy Note 3, and in the meanwhile, owners of the device can look at the early Lollipop build on the Note 3 in the video below.
